Coaching saved my marriage five years ago when we were at a breaking point, and nothing else seemed to work. It was also the first time I found freedom from ruminating thoughts, and I felt a sense of peace like never before. From that moment on, I knew I wanted everyone to experience the transformative power of coaching, and when I believe in something, I can’t help but share it passionately! With over five years of experience, I’ve worked as a coach both internally for a coach training company and now run Unscripted Sales, a sales training and coaching company featuring a 16 CCE Credit sales course for ICF Coaches.

Describe what you hope to gain and contribute as a member of the board.
I'm excited to connect and take on a leadership role within our local chapter. I want to deepen my understanding of the ICF as a whole and be part of the growth and evolution our profession will experience in the coming years. I see this as a meaningful step toward that goal. I’m passionate about our work, with ideas and perspectives on how we can best serve the world.

ICF-CO is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Please describe where you are personally in relation to DEIB work and how you see it applying to the role(s) you are applying for.
My goal has always been to approach my marketing, communications, events, and advertisements with thoughtful awareness of my own inherent biases. I make it a priority to attract clients and colleagues who bring diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. For me, the aim isn’t necessarily driven by larger altruistic motives, but by a deep belief that life is richer when we’re surrounded by a variety of cultures and ideas.

I also teach on identifying and overcoming bias in client enrollment and feel strongly about its importance. DEI work is something we can learn in theory, but putting it into practice is what I find most meaningful and impactful.

Tell us about your coaching business and what drew you to this profession.
What drew me to my coaching business was a desire to help individuals and teams unlock their full potential. Coming from a background in sales, team coaching, and event management, I have always been passionate about personal growth and empowering others. This naturally evolved into my coaching career, where I realized how impactful coaching can be in transforming lives and fostering leadership. My alignment with the values of the International Coach Federation, including its emphasis on ethical practices and continuous learning, has further solidified my commitment to the coaching profession. Coaching allows me to live my personal mission of “being the light” for others, guiding them toward clarity and success. English is my second language, and it will be a challenge for me. And being a Russian speaking drew me to the coaching too. They are not familiar with coaching unfortunately.

Describe what you hope to gain and contribute as a member of the board.
As a member of the ICF Colorado board, I hope to contribute to a broader vision of creating a vibrant, supportive coaching community. In the role of Director of Communication, I aim to ensure that the voices of our members are heard and that we are able to share the transformative power of coaching with a wider audience. I see this role as an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded professionals, enhance my leadership skills, and further support the growth of the coaching industry, particularly in our region. Additionally, I look forward to fostering greater engagement and visibility for the chapter, allowing it to continue its impact on both current and aspiring coaches.

ICF-CO is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Please describe where you are personally in relation to DEIB work and how you see it applying to the role(s) you are applying for.
My personal relationship with diversity, equity, and belonging stems from a deep belief that every individual has a unique perspective and value to contribute, regardless of their background. Throughout my career, both in sales and as a coach, I have worked with diverse teams and clients, learning firsthand the power of inclusive environments. I’ve seen how acknowledging and celebrating differences fosters innovation, deeper connections, and a sense of belonging. As a coach, I prioritize creating a space where every individual feels heard, respected, and empowered to show up as their authentic self. This is not only central to my coaching philosophy but also to how I engage with the world.

In the role of Director of Communication for ICF Colorado, I see a significant opportunity to apply DEI principles by ensuring that all voices within our chapter are represented and heard. Effective communication is key to building a truly inclusive community, and my goal would be to promote diverse perspectives, ensuring that the chapter’s initiatives reflect the richness of our members’ experiences. This involves crafting messaging that resonates with coaches from all backgrounds and actively engaging with underrepresented groups to strengthen our community’s commitment to equity and belonging. By fostering an inclusive dialogue, I aim to help the ICF Colorado chapter continue to be a welcoming and supportive space for all coaches.

I have worked in the psychological space for over 30 years. I have provided coaching services over my career, mostly unaware of coaching as a formalized different service. I decided to bifurcate my businesses and offer coaching as a formal service. I entered the Hudson Institute for my own personal and professional integrity; to be as diligent as I can be in this pursuit. I have served as the Chief Psychology Officer for a VR company, written, spoken, and taught about digital tools, and own/run a family business where we have an iOS and VR version of a tool to be used in sessions.

Training, credentials and certifications as a professional coach.
ACC planned for December, 2024. I have all the criterion met: coaching provided, coaching received, and educational hours.

ICF-CO is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Please describe where you are personally in relation to DEIB work and how you see it applying to the role(s) you are applying for.
I believe DEIB is part of a critically important societal movement where the individualistic characteristics of people are being recognized more and more - and in a more positive light than historically. Recognizing what the differences in each of us contribute to a more rich and successful environment is paramount, and then providing environments where this can be realized/achieved, etc. is an overarching goal.

Sherri Adams
Director of DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging)

Tell us about your coaching business and what drew you to this profession.
After spending a decade as an Associate Director of Human Resources, Valdosta State University, I found myself naturally asking impactful questions and advocating for diversity, equity, and belonging long before those concepts became widely recognized. During my time as a Senior Human Resources Business Partner, my leader encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone by participating in a coaching program—not for certification, but for growth. This experience ignited a passion for coaching that has woven itself through every role I've held since, whether as a change agent, organizational effectiveness consultant, assistant professor, or L&D professional.

Coaching has become my cornerstone, requiring the ability to ask impactful questions, listen deeply, and ensure everyone feels valued. This journey led me to pursue my ACC certification independently, and I’m now advancing toward my ACTC and MCC.

What truly draws me to coaching is the opportunity to help individuals and teams unlock their potential. At the heart of my coaching philosophy lies a commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). I believe that each person brings a unique perspective that enriches our organizations. My mission is to cultivate environments where everyone feels heard, valued, and empowered to thrive—transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and connection.

Training, credentials and certifications as a professional coach.
I hold a diverse range of training, credentials, and certifications that reflect my commitment to excellence in coaching and leadership development. As an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coaching Federation (ICF), I adhere to the highest ethical standards and practices in coaching. Additionally, I have completed the Advanced Accreditation in Team Coaching (ACTC) from Beckett McInroy Consultancy, enhancing my ability to foster collaboration and high performance within teams.

My educational background includes a Ph.D. in Management & Organizational Leadership, equipping me with a solid understanding of organizational behavior, leadership theories, and adult learning principles. I also completed a Conflict Resolution and Mediation program from Colorado State University, which provides me with essential skills to navigate challenging conversations effectively.

Further enriching my coaching toolbox, I hold certifications in Working Genius from The Table Group, INSIGHTS Discovery, and Crucial Conversations from Crucial Learning. I have earned a Master Trainer Designation from the Association for Talent Development (ATD) and a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI).

Currently, I am pursuing my Master Certified Coach (MCC) credential, having completed 200 hours of coaching, and I am attending the Team and Board Coaching AATC program from CoachME. With over 20 years of experience in human resources and leadership development, I leverage these credentials to empower leaders and teams on their growth journeys, fostering inclusive and effective environments.

Describe what you hope to gain and contribute as a member of the board.
As a candidate for the position of Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) on the ICF Board, I am excited about the opportunity to bring my skills of wonder and curiosity to this vital role. My goal is to leverage my experience in human resources, academia/research, and leadership development to create meaningful initiatives that prioritize inclusivity and elevate underrepresented voices in coaching.

I hope to gain insights from my fellow board members that will enrich my understanding of how ICF can enhance its commitment to DEIB within the coaching profession and beyond. I envision implementing programs that empower coaches to lead with empathy and understanding, allowing them to create environments where everyone feels valued and heard.

By fostering a culture of belonging within ICF, I aim to inspire a new generation of coaches who embrace curiosity and wonder as they engage with their communities. Together, we can cultivate an environment where all individuals are encouraged to share their unique experiences, ultimately driving meaningful change in the coaching landscape.
