An Antiviral Approach To Coaching The Silenced Female Leader

CCEs:
1.5 in Core Competencies

Throughout our society, women are subject to multiple forms of system, relationship, and self-silencing. Effective coaches (both men and women) can create awareness with female clients that move them to purposeful voice and voice efficacy. In this presentation Carrie Arnold, Ph.D., PCC, will address the issues and challenges surrounding the silencing of female leaders, and the complexity found in the rhetoric of silence. Using a virus model and 4-part typology, Carrie will offer new powerful questions and stem sentences for use in coaching conversations. Participants will have the opportunity to expand their awareness on how they may feel silenced as, or prior to becoming a coach. They will learn to manage their own forms of silencing, identify distinct issues of silencing in their clients, partner with their clients on levels of voice, and help break the viral effects of silencing by ensuring they or their clients do not silence others. We will explore distinctions with voice and silence, and develop greater insight on the viral effects of silencing and the many ways women are impacted in every domain. And to make all of this information actionable, participants will learn new coaching moves to create awareness and support growth in their clients.
